Elected Official, Are You Kidding Me?
Project type
Absolute Obedience
Date
2019-2024
Location
Hometown, Michigan
We arrived back in MI in mid-March 2019. A month later, I had started doing the grocery shopping for others thing. That's actually where I was when I thought I had missed the call that I had landed the Deputy Treasurer position in the Township I lived. One month before the world shut down in 2020, I was appointed Treasurer. Thank goodness I did not know what that year held.
By the time the election rolled around, I was ready to walk away. The only reason I didn't is because I could not deny the power of the Holy Spirit showing up to actually do the job. He made the numbers come together.
The politics of all of it, in the midst of the pandemic, was more than I signed up for! But I assured God if I won, I would stick it out for the entire four years. I knew I was the person for the job, regardless if it made my skin crawl.
I did what was asked of me. It was the most difficult 4 years to date. But the four before that, I could say the same thing in regards to.
You see, if you're doing things that don't require the power of the Holy Spirit, you're not living the life you were created for.
I have thankfully moved on from the title of elected official. But looking back reminds me of God's power to do the hard things He asks of me. And I can't wait for the next opportunity for adventure.
Or can I? New adventures can be terrifying! Like publishing a book and taking a year to dedicate to God!
